When the daytime blue of the sky turns red as the sun goes down, istanbul opens its doors to entertainment of all kinds. Taksim and Beyoğlu are no doubt the center of nightlife in the Istanbul city. The bars on the streets leading to istiklal Caddesi, the clubs that can be found around the streets nearby, the wine bars in the area, and the venues where DJs play the hottest hits from all over the world and live bands perform, really form the heart of the city's nightlife.
Taksim, well served by the metro, dolmuş vans, buses, and taxis, plays host to the excited crowds 24 hours a day.
Although the emphasis is particularly on the Taksim end of Istiklal Caddesi, Babylon, one of istanbul's most interesting venues, is actually located at the other end.
Babylon is a popular venue where famous names in Jazz, electronic, and world music perform. Moving on from Babylon, try Switch, Roxy, Balans, Indigo, 360 Istanbul, Manastre, or Godet.
Switch, in particular, has become a favorite destination for club goers over the past couple years.
In addition, Mood, Spoon, 7TH Hous, Filter, Orange, Milk, Dali, Chine White (Red Room), Ghetto, Kantina (Pre Club), Soho (Pre Club), and Sarnie are other venues that play their rhythms into Istanbul's nights.
Taksim is not just a place to go clubbing, of course. For those who want to sample a little beer or wine in the open air before going dancing, there are plenty of pubs and wine bars to choose from.
Anyone who wants to warm up listening to rock music needs to head for Kemanci, Hayal Kahvesi, Line's Inn, Jazz Stop, Do Rock, Mojo, Bronx, or Spicai.
Yeni Melek is one of the newest venues for performances by Turkish and internationally well known bands.
The Irish Centre provides a wide variety of entertainment and services for its customers.
It is a place where you can eat a good meal or dance and socialize your way through to the early hours of the morning.
If you prefer Latin and world music, don't miss Life, Rio Bravo, and Shaman World Music Club. When it comes to wine bars, you can find places like Pano, Viktor Levi, Cardak, and Vareli in the same area, around Cigek Pasaji in Galatasaray. For the chance to listen to Jazz in a softer atmosphere, again you can head to Taksim, try Gramofon in Tunel. Harry's Jazz Bar of the Hyatt Regency Hotel is considered one of the hottest places for jazz lovers. In the Maslak - Levent - Etiler triangle one should not miss such places as Amman, Alexanders, Bibita, Cool, Big Buddha, Escobar, Keops, Hyper, or Nispet, where mainly Turkish pop musicians perform.
Located in the woods, with various stages, restaurants, cafes, and a big swimming pool, Park Orman is one of the most important concert venues of the city.
Maslak Venue also hosts international artists and festivals at its open and indoor venues. And the Bosphorus...
A place you must visit on the European side. Ortakby boasts many bars, such as Anjelique, Bahane, Reina, Sortie and Rock House in the Princess Hotel. There are many other venues on the European side of the Bosphorus, such as Q Jazz Bar in Besiktas, Cabaret Cine in Arnavutköy, and the New Yorker in Bebek.
The shimmering light on the Asian side comes from Hayal Kahvesi on the shore of Çubuklu. With its outdoor and indoor areas and the parties and concerts that the club puts on, it is a very popular spot.
What Taksim is to entertainment on the European side of Istanbul, Kadikoy is to the Asian side.
Kadikoy's nightlife centers around Kadife Street, known as the Bar Street. Lined with cozy and intimate bars, this street is lively all night, even if it is more lowkey than Taksim. Between the ferry pier and the district of Moda are many bars such as Hera, Isis, Karga, Karin, Lai, Liman Kahvesi, Masai Evi and Pandora.
Kadikoy's main venue for live music and partying is, without doubt, Shaft.
