TEPEBAŞI IN ISTIKLAL STREET

Toward the Tünel end of istiklal and running parallel to it on the Golden Horn side, is the attractive area of Tepebaşı.
Here, the Pera Museum draws attention for stylish architecture as well as prestigious international exhibitions, including works by Rembrandt and Henry Cartier Bresson.
Also in Tepebasi are the old American and British consulate buildings, which are noble themselves for their palatial style.
The paintin ' Kaplumbağa Terbiyecisi ' ( Turtle Trainer 1906 ) by Osman Hamdi, an Orientalist Turkish artist, is exhibiited in the permanent collection of the Pera Museum.
